Life Update

You may have noticed that I've been away from this space for a while. I wanted to give an update on what's been going on and why I've been away and hopefully get back into a regular rhythm of posting again!

At the end of June, very unexpectedly, we adopted a dog. We saw a Facebook post one day, met her the next evening, then took her home the following morning! I'm not normally that impulsive, but my roommate and I both had a gut feeling about her, and it just felt like she would be the right dog for us.

Meet Luna!

We got her from the Dodge County Humane Society. She's a German Shepherd/Aussie mix. Luna was 4 1/2 years old when we brought her home, and they didn't know much about her history. They did tell us that she had some separation anxiety issues, but I figured that since I work from home, we could manage that.

When we got her home, we realized that there was more going on with her than just separation anxiety. She is very reactive to cars and dogs, so much so that we can't go on neighborhood walks. She also doesn't do well in the car, so we can't really take her anywhere - and with her separation anxiety, we don't like to be gone very long.

We worked with a trainer to begin addressing some of her issues, but it's a very slow process, and we still have a long way to go.

But in the meantime, there is much to love about Luna! She is sweet and affectionate, super smart, ball-obsessed and ridiculously athletic! Our trainer got us to start doing agility work with Luna, and she is a natural!

Leaping Luna!

I hadn't anticipated how much energy would be consumed by adjusting to our new normal. I felt like my life was completely turned upside down. Everything else went by the wayside - including this blog. And the longer I've been away, the harder it's been to start it up again. But I feel like I'm ready!

I’ll pick up where I left off, starting my Narnia series. I will release a Narnia post every two weeks – since I am re-reading each book before writing a post, it’s better to give myself a bit more time.

If any of you are still out there, thank you for sticking with me, and I hope you'll join me for my Narnia series!

Hey, I'm Deanna!

I'll start with the typical introductory details - I live in Wisconsin and work as an Administrative Assistant for a non-profit organization - but those are the least interesting things about me!

I love reading (theology, spiritual formation, biographies), baking and cooking, hiking and exploring the the beauty God has created - in all 4 seasons! All of these things bring me life, and they are all things I will be writing about here - so if any of that is interesting to you, subscribe and stick around for a while!
